The CEO MAFF Dr. Viliami Toalei Manu opened the two days workshop on Tonga Export Certification System (ECS) for HTFA Pathway Crops at the Scenic Hotel, Fu’amotu from the 22nd – 23rd August, 2017.
Mr. Peter Johnson and Ms Mela’ia Lousi the facilitors from the Ministry of Primary Industry conducted this workshop to staff of the Maff’s Quarantine Export Section, Grower/Exporter GroFed, on the new Export Certification System for all export commodities that are treated at the HTFA facility. Training was based on HTFA pathway to New Zealand as we had known that the HTFA pathway was suspended in 2015 due to intercept of live fruit fly larvae in New Zealand (NZ) border.
Sincere gratitude to the Government of New Zealand for their continues support on funding and willingly to support with the failed on non compliant consignment to recondition this situation. Also, designing a new system called Export Certification System (ECS) to correct that fault back in 2015.
There will be another Refresher training in September to ensure that the QQMD export section staff are confident in administering the system.
