Public Notice

Prohibition of taking Chestnut (Ifi) from Tonga to Australia

Due to a recent change to the regulations of Australian Biosecurity Import Condition (BICON), the public is hereby notified that chestnut (ifi) in any forms (raw, frozen or cooked) is no longer allowed to be taken by any means (on aircraft, cargo or vessel shipment) from Tonga to Australia.

The Quarantine Department is requesting public cooperation in complying with this new regulation in order to avoid risks of confiscating chestnut shipments at the Australian border clearance or personally bearing the costs for the returning/reshipment of the chestnut (ifi) consignment from Australia to Tonga.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
